Three people died
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Three people were killed when a fire gutted two buildings on Swadaya Street in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, early on Saturday, a firefighter stated.
“Three people died,” Commander of the South Jakarta Fire Department Paryo remarked.
The victims were a 37-year-old woman, a three-year-old son, and a three-month-old toddler, he noted.
The bodies of the three victims were taken to the Fatmawati Hospital in South Jakarta for autopsy, chief of the operation section of the South Jakarta Fire Department Sugeng stated.
The fire department sent 12 fire trucks with 45 firefighters to the scene soon after receiving a report of the fire at 00:03 a.m. local time, Paryo remarked.
The blaze was successfully put out at 00:55 a.m. local time.

“The cause of the fire is still unknown,” Sugeng added.
The police are still investigating the cause of the fire by questioning several witnesses, including the husband of the 37-year-old woman.
An eyewitness, Fadli, stated that the fire originated in a three-story building and spread quickly to a toy shop next to it.
